Notes from November 29's meeting

posted Nov 30, 2011, 3:47 PM by I.C.E. 3038
Last night we had another productive meeting. We have a little more than a month until the kickoff, so every minute is important.
The first thing we discussed was purchasing fleece sweatshirts. The sweatshirts will be navy blue, with our ICE logo on the left chest. There also is the option of adding your name to the right chest. There is the option of having either a full zipper or have zipper (pullover) as well. It was agreed that if a member would like a sweatshirt, they would pay for it themselves. That way we won't completely drain our student activity account. The cost is $26 with just the logo, and if you would like your name added, that is an extra $3.50. If you would like to purchase a fleece, payment for it is due by our next meeting, December 13. Make checks out to ICE Robotics.
The next thing on our agenda was concessions. North Branch has concessions available December 1, 13, 20, and January 3. Chisago Lakes students can help out at North Branch concessions, and vice versa. We need at least 3 to 4 students for each date. Remember, this is to raise money for ourselves to be able to buy dinner during build season or parts for the robot. We need as many students to help out with this as possible. We need to do it now because we won't be able to do it until March, after  the  build season.  If you are interested, there is a sign up sheet in the North Branch activities office. If you are from Chisago Lakes, you can email Anne Lawrence at and she will sign you up.
The following dates are the upcoming SPLASH webcasts. December 13 will be a part of our next meeting. The others are on your own time. It is highly recommended, especially rookies, that you watch these!
December 13- 5:30-6:15pm - Build Season Survival Guide/Essentials
6:30-7:15pm - Drive Train and MAnipulators
                          7:30-8:15pm - Rookie Programming/Libraries/Running the robot
December 15- 5:30-6:15pm - Electrical Wiring and Pneumatics
                          6:30-7:15pm - LabVIEW/National Instruments
                          7:30-8:15pm - Programming/Sensors/Beta Test/Kinect
December 20-5:30-6:30pm - Fundraising/Business Plans/Game Strategy
                           6:45-8:15pm - Robot Inspections
One last thing: please remember to register on STIMS! Many students have registered, but their parents need to ok it. This must be done before the Kickoff on January 7. otherwise you cannot participate. It is prefered that you do not wait until the last minute. The link and brief instructions can be found on a past news post.
Our next meeting is December 13, at 5:30pm. See all of you then!
